Nigeria's minister of state for health, Dr. Muhammed Pate today voluntarily stepped down from the incumbent administration's health ministry.
According to his resignation letter made available to newsmen, he said he decided to resign in order to take up a professorial position at the Global Health Institute, Duke University, USA.
With his new appointment, Pate will be actively involved in a university-wide Africa initiative. He will also be a senior adviser to the Washington DC-based Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
