Ogun state confirms cholera outbreak

The government of Ogun state has confirmed cholera outbreaks in Abeokuta South and North local government areas. It added that one person has died as a result of the disease re-emergence.


Vanguard reported the outbreak was as a result of a septic tank that spilled its content into large bodies of water in the area has caused apprehension has residents are scared of using water in the area.

Confirming the incidence, Dr. Olaokun Soyinka, the state's commissioner for health said the outbreak was as a result of poor hygiene. He however said the ministry has taken steps to prevent the disease from spreading.

  1. If you use a septic tank, then you should probably have a riser installed. Many municipalities are even requiring Septic tank risers for new installations. A septic tank riser is simply an extension that raises your tank up to ground level. This gives you easy access to the pump or septic tanks for maintenance tasks.
