Swiss government and AIDS foundation partner to promote safe sex among children

The government of Switzerland and the Swiss AIDS Foundation have announced they are set to produce condoms for children in the country. According to the Swiss AIDS Foundation, it is supporting the government on the distribution of condoms to children below 14 years.

The foundation decried the spate of unprotected sex between the target group as a result of the non-availability of small sized condoms that could fit them.

The call for the production of condoms for children was first made by the nation's Federal Commission on Children and Youth. The commission enjoined stakeholders in the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases to drum support for the production of small sized condoms for children.

The commission revealed that children below 14 years are more sexually active than in the 1990s and has recommended the production of condoms that have a diameter of 45mm instead of the standard 49mm to be distributed in schools across Switzerland.

  1. Various jurisdictions have placed restrictive laws against certain sexual acts, such as incest, sexual activity with minors, extramarital sex, prostitution, pornography, sodomy, indecent exposure, rape and zoophilia. Religious beliefs also play a role in personal decisions about sexual intercourse or other sexual activity, such as decisions about virginit.
