India's toothbrushing record broken in Lagos, Nigerians react

The Guinness World Record of the number of people simultaneously brushing their teeth has been broken in Lagos Nigeria. According to data made available to HealthNewsNG, more than 300,000 pupils from about 600 public schools in Lagos participated in the challenge. 


Nigeria has broken the record previously set by India in 2007 when 177,003 brushed teeth simultaneously. Nigerians are already reacting to the news on social media..

On Nairaland, many Nigerians saw the record has the beginning of great things for Nigeria.

I.Joan said: "Well... I guess we have to start from somewhere! sad So...Brushing record it is! UP NAIJA."

Dudu Negro described the move as a great way to bridge the gap to foster global competition.

"Smart way to set pace with global competition.Who organized the promotion , I have ideas for them to pioneer in new fields of record settings," he said.

Stan-ogb however the record as unnecessary compared to the other challenges the nation is battling with.

He said: "It is a good thing that we are setting a record but a bad thing that it is an unnecessary record. There is bribery and corruption, brazen looting of funds while our future leaders are busy BRUSHING their teeth."
