The 17th international AIDS conference on AIDS and STIs in Africa holding from 7th to 11th December, 2013 is expected to host close to 10,000 delegates.

As one of the biggest AIDS conferences in Africa, this year's conference will be holding in Cape Town, South Africa with the theme "Now More Than Ever:  Targeting Zero."

According to the organizers, this year's edition promises to be exciting as it will feature exhibitions, abstract presentations and satellite sessions. This year, organizers said the conference will have three major conference programmes – Scientific, Leadership and Community.

The five-day conference will feature guest speakers, round-table discussions, satellite symposia, panel discussions and skills-building workshops on various topics linked to the theme of the conference and the programmes.

It will also be intriguing as prizes will be awarded in two categories during the conference.  The first is the ICASA young Investigator Award which will be given to encourage young researchers and to recognize excellence. A prize of US $2,000 will be given to the highest scoring abstract for each of the conference tracks. The second is the young Investigator award, awarded to a young woman investigator from a resource-limited setting whose abstract most demonstrates excellence in research and/or practice that address women, girls and gender issues related to  HIV and AIDS. This category also has a cash award of US $3000 by the 17th ICASA 2013.
