The Carter Center, an organization
pioneered by former US President Jimmy Carter will host a human rights forum
which will focus on the role of religion
in advancing women’s rights.
The forum will be via a live webcast on
June 28th – 29th here
The Organization will be bringing together religious leaders, human rights advocates and practitioners, and academics to discuss issues such as female genital cutting, human trafficking, and the normalization of violence as they relate to particular regions and communities.
The forum is very committed to making concrete and sustainable gains in women’s rights, working within the contest of religion and traditional belief structures.
Participants will represent more than 15 countries and over 35 faith-based organizations, universities, and religious bodies including Havard and Princeton Universities, the Biblioteca Alexandria, the Musawah Global Movement for Equality and Justice in the Muslim Family, Sojourners, and the American Acedemy of Religion.
