The role of children and adolescents in health decision-making is the focus of the 5th HIFA2015-CHILD2015 Webinar that will hold on 27th June 2013.
In a statement, CHILD2015 disclosed that the webinar organized by CHILD2015 Working Group in association with the International Society for Social Pediatrics and Child Health (ISSOP) will begin at 3pm (UK/London time) and would last for 50 minutes - 30 minutes presentation plus 20 minutes discussion. Speakers announced for the webinar Gonca Yilmaz and Ayesha Kadir.
"It is widely believed that children and adolescents lack capacity to make informed contributions to decision-making, and that doing so may place them at risk and have adverse consequences on their health. However, the experience of child participation around the world provides a growing body of evidence, not only that these concerns are unfounded, but that participation has a widespread positive impact. This webinar will look at the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and its application to the right of children and adolescents to participate in decisions relating to their health and health care," CHILD2015 stated.
For free registeration, the organizers advised interested participants to send an email to webinars@hifa2015.org.
"Registration (free) is encouraged so that we can better meet your needs. To register, send an email with your name, position/job title, institution, country of residence, and brief description of professional interests, to: webinars@hifa2015.org," the organizers stated.
The organizers also revealed they will be using University of Iowa's web conferencing tool Blackboard Collaborate (formerly called Elluminate).
They said: "If you are using the system for the first time it is recommended that you set up your computer now. This will ensure you do not face technical problems on the day. The HIFA2015 virtual room is open 24/7. Instructions to set up are here.
"This can be done any time, any day. Once you are set up, you will be able to participate in any HIFA2015 Webinar."
