Taraba Governor Discharged From Johns Hopkins Hospital, Convalescing In New York

Danbaba Suntai, the executive governor of Taraba state has been discharged from an American hospital where he was receiving treatment for injuries sustained in a plane crash that occurred in October 2012.  

According to Leadership Newspaper, the governor had spent about 3 months at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Johns Hopkins Hospital in Maryland USA and is now recuperating in his New York residence. Prior to his hospitalization at the Johns Hopkins hospital, had spent 5 months in another hospital in Germany.


One of the doctors personal physicians, Dr. Andrew Smith revealed that the governor will be able to return to Nigeria when his medical team can certify he could embark on long journeys.

Following his long absence from Nigeria, there were strong indications that the governor is suffering from memory loss. Smith however debunked the rumor and added that the governor is conscious and can recognize and identify those that are there to visit him.

 “They were not as serious as reported. They were not serious ailments anyway and they have been cured," Smith stated.

The acting governor has however declared that he is uncertain about the exact date the governor will return to Nigeria; according to him, only the medical team at Johns Hopkins Hospital could determine when Governor Suntai would be back in Nigeria.
