The event which will hold on Thursday, July 4, 2013 at Teslim Balogun Stadium and 300 locations across Lagos is an attempt to set a new world record of the number of people simultaneously brushing at 300 locations.
According to the organizers, HEIT Solutions got the authority to attempt the world record from the Guinness World Record Limited and it has tagged the challenge the Lagos World Record Toothbrushing Challenge.
"The design objective is to craft a sustainable
Oral Health promotions project of global repute and impact," the organizers stated.
India currently holds the world record with 177,003 people simultaneously brushing tooth at about 380 location. While the number of locations in Lagos are fewer than India's record,, organizers saidi the focus isi on the number of people and not the locations.
"The world record is for
the number of people actually toothbrushing, not number of locations or
for the number of people present at the venue of the event. This
project hopes to get 300,000 secondary school students (adolescents) to
toothbrush simultaneously at multiple locations in Lagos,Nigeria," the organizers stated.
On what the state and participants stand to gain, the organizers said the image of Lagos state would be promoted while participants would be glad to be part of history.
"The media buzz generated around breaking this record will be deployed
for the promotion of the image of Lagos State, the oral health of its
citizens, and its vibrant oral healthcare industry. The Participants
would be enjoying the experiential benefit of being a part of the
accomplishment, and the lifelong benefit of oral health literacy," organizers said.
