Free treatment for 1million children in Jigawa, northern Nigeria

As part of activities marking this year's Maternal and Child Survival health Week in the state, Jigawa state government has said about 1million children had benefited from its free treatment service within 6 days.



The children also got food supplements to control malnutrition and treated against malaria and other child killer diseases.




Reviewing the progress of the exercise in Hadejia, the Director of Gunduma Health System in charge of Hadejia, Dr Abdullahi Umar, said more than 200,000 expectant and nursing mothers also got free treatment during the 6-day exercise.

"Pregnant and breast-feeding mothers are being treated against various diseases to improve their health and that of their children," he said.
