He said the feat was achieved following three years without any record of guinea worm infection.
“For any country to be certified as a Guinea worm-free country, you must not record any Guinea worm for three consecutive years," he said.
He added that Nigerian president, Goodluck Jonathan would receive a certificate from the World Health Organization (WHO) global health organization to celebrate the eradication of guinea worm.
“The success recorded in Guinea worm eradication will make the World Health Organisation (WHO) to present a certificate to President Goodluck Jonathan in December,” Chukwu said.
