Health crucial to Nigerian Navy - chief

The Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) of the Nigerian Navy, Vice Admiral Usman Jibrin, has said health an well being are crucial to the Nigerian Navy. Jibrin said this at the opening ceremony of the NN Health Week held at the Naval Training Command (NAVTRAC) under the command of the Flag Officer Commanding, Rear Admiral Goddy Anyankpele.

 
According to him the Nigerian Navy is interested in ensuring the ultimate health of its personnel which is why the Nigerian Navy has charged its medical directorate  to ensure the wellness its troops to facilitate the proper execution of the service's role in protecting Nigeria’s assets at sea.

He said the survival of Nigeria rests squarely on how efficient the NN performs its role. He added that success in this direction was premised on the wellness of the workforce deployed for operational duties.

He said the service's strategy stresses manpower, doctrines and weapons are the three key factors for evaluating its readiness for operations.
He said, "Among these factors, manpower is adjudged the most significant since we need able manpower to operate the weapons and interpret the doctrines for mission success to be accomplished.

"In this regard, the NN considers the health week as indispensable and very crucial, especially as the NN is committed to transforming the quality and standard of health services in all its medical facilities.”

He also reaffirmed the service's commitment to the completion of the NN Hospital in Calabar and the establishment of more health facilities in its operational bases.
