As the world marks the World Health Day today, the International Institute for Communication and Development (IICD) has released a
report through which ICCD aims to inform the general public about its activities in African
countries over the past five years.
The report also shares some of the lessons, success and failures experienced while applying ICT for health development.

According to the
introductory note, efficient and appropriate use of information technology can enhance
service delivery in the health sector.
IICD said: “Information and
Communication Technologies (ICT) have the potential to make healthcare delivery
and health systems more efficient and effective, allowing us to rethink the way
healthcare services can be delivered.
"Adequate information management, telemedicine and e-Learning can contribute, enabling healthcare providers to deliver quality healthcare wherever and whenever needed in the most efficient way. Traditional and new means of communication and information influence the ability of impoverished communities to access services engage with and advocate for a health sector that responds to their priorities and needs.”
