Ekiti State Government Signs MoU with NHIS


The Ekiti State Government has signed Memorandum of Understanding with the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).


The MoU was on Health insurance for pregnant mothers and children aged 0 to five years.

The State Commissioner for health Prof. Olusola Fasubaa in an interview with reporters in Ado Ekiti, the state capital said that the agreement was "to make health care affordable and accessible to pregnant mothers and children under five years".

According to him, "with high poverty level, budgeting constraints and prevalence of diseases, such as HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria", there was need for health insurance.
The Commisioner reiterated that NHIS remains the best way to guarantee access to quality healthcare.
